Why YOU need professional headshots
It’s all about branding yourself. YOU are your brand, so make sure your headshot says the right thing about you.
Whether you’re a user of something like Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or have some other form of internet presence, including a personal or company website, the first thing people will look at is that image of yourself that you’ve put there.
That image that you have there is the first impression that others will have of you, and that image will determine whether they want to form a connection with you.
You have to make sure that your first impression is a good one.
We live in modern times, where the use of the internet has forever changed how we communicate, interact with and have or build on relationships with each other.
Individuals, prospective clients, future employers, will use the internet to research others before making a connection, doing business with, inviting someone for an employment interview. The CV is fast becoming a vestige of the 20th century – most employers will research prospective employees on the internet before inviting them for an interview. Gone are the days when the first time you saw what the other person looked like is when you met face-to-face for the first time. It certainly makes it far easier for all parties involved when the first impression is a professional headshot, which exudes confidence and approachability, and not a blurry image of you taken at the end of your last office party.
Getting professional headshots of yourself for your personal branding should not be seen as an unnecessary expense. In fact, it is quite the opposite – in these times, it is an essential part of your toolkit in career progression.
The same can be said if you own a business or are involved in the corporate world. You need a professional headshot. Your potential clients will in most likelihood research your business on the internet before making that decision to engage in business with you. And you as the owner, manager, director, need to portray to your prospective clients a level of professionalism that using a professional headshot can give.
Also of equal importance when you are involved in any type of business is to ensure that your management team, at the very least, have professional and cohesive headshots, and not varying portraits or headshots taken by a multitude of different photographers, or at the very worst, an avatar in the place where a professional headshot should be.
